Discover more from A Drop of Sunshine
Hello Dear Ones,
May is almost over, and rather than waxing poetic about the inevitable passing of time and how it astounds me with its quickness more each and every year, instead I’ll say this:
If you don’t have anything to say, that’s okay. Just because the internet has an opinion on everything doesn’t mean it is necessary or edifying that you have one too.
Silence is okay, and is often actively good.
In June, I challenge you to go outside, or find a quiet room, and just be. Go on a walk without music or audiobook. Say no to society’s constant stream of entertainment. Embrace the silence and discover what you hear.
Until next time, I hope you enjoy this drop of sunshine.
Blessings,
Shelby
Quote to Ponder:
“It is a quotidian mystery that dailiness can lead to such despair and yet also be at the core of our salvation… We want life to have meaning, we want fulfillment, healing, and even ecstasy, but the human paradox is that we find these things by starting where we are… we must look for blessing to come from unlikely, everyday places.” - Kathleen Norris, The Quotidian Mysteries
What to Bake
Skillet Brownie - To all the “center of the brownie pan” fans out there, enjoy! Ice cream is not optional.
What to Listen To
Dermot Kennedy…again. I’ve recommended his newest album Sonder, and now it’s time to shout out his other albums, Dermot Kennedy and Without Fear. We had the most amazing concert experience watching him perform at Red Rocks in May. He was so phenomenal live that I’m now determined to plan our Ireland vacation around his next home tour.
What to Read*
Emma by Jane Austen. Obviously Pride & Prejudice is a masterpiece that will always hold a special place in my heart… but Emma just cracks me up. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s a perfect summer read.
Question to Ponder:
If you could do one thing this summer, only one thing, what would you want it to be?
Until next time, wishing you sunshiny trails…
Shelby
